SALMON FISHING:

Be in with a chance of winning not one, but two Rods for you and a friend to enjoy three days Fly Fishing on the Kinkell beat of the River Earn between 1st September and 31st October 2021.

A two mile beat of Salmon and Sea Trout fishing in beautiful, picturesque Scottish surroundings. The River Earn is an important tributary of the river Tay and is in its own right, an excellent Salmon river. It is also regarded as one of Scotland’s finest Sea Trout rivers. This coupled with Kinkell’s accessible location makes it the ideal place for all to come and fish.

Ghillie – Years of knowledge at your complete disposal

Sandy Macintosh has a lifetime’s worth of experience as a Ghillie and is a true river character. He has been the Ghillie at Kinkell for over 20 years and has an insatiable passion for this stretch of water. There are very few questions that he will not be able to answer. Sandy is also an excellent teacher and guide. He is always on hand to help provide casting lessons and general handy tips for both novice and experienced rods. Sandy’s passion for this stretch of water is infectious and he is always keen to share his knowledge with those who are looking to learn.

Fishing Lodge & Hut

There are two main fishing lodges/huts at Kinkell. The principal lodge is located on the north bank just 50 yards from Kinkell Bridge, which is a stunning four arched bridge dating from the late 18th Century and lies at the heart of the beat. There is a second fishing hut at the meet point of the Upper and Lower beats. The hut is more basic in its design but provides a lovely spot to review a morning’s fishing with those who have been fishing the other beat that morning.

The Schöffel Fly Fishing Range

After three years of development and stringent testing on rivers in England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Russia and Argentina, Schöffel are extremely excited to be able to share their brand-new Schöffel Fly Fishing range. Designed and engineered around the same guiding principles upon which the Schöffel Country brand was built – namely quality, durability, attention to detail and most importantly, technical performance in the field. Schöffel are confident that this new product range will continue to do what they have always strived for: to enhance your experience in the field and from now on, on the water, too.

The design and development of the Schöffel Fly Fishing Range was a truly collaborative process which started in early 2018 when CEO and owner, Peter Schöffel and brand director, Marcus Janssen had a conversation about their respective passions for fly fishing. A seed was planted that day, and several months later, Schöffel’s vastly experienced product development team flew to the UK to begin their field research. Utilising the very best and latest fabric technologies from the likes of GORE-TEX® and Toray Dermizax, 200+ years of tailoring expertise and lifelong passions for fly fishing, combined with elegant, classic British styling, Schöffel believe that their range offers discerning fly fishers next-level quality, reliability and durability.

Schöffel have pledged to donate one percent of the turnover generated from the sales of their fly fishing range to the Atlantic Salmon Trust (AST), a charity dedicated to the conservation of wild salmon and sea trout at sea and in fresh water environments. Through research, advocacy and action, their core aim is to support these iconic fish and give them the best chance of survival.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION:

A luxury two night stay at Gleneagles, a short 5 mile drive from where you will be fishing. Gleneagles is a magnificent 5 star hotel like no other, a charming country estate, the rooms are as glorious as the landscape that frames them, all individually inspired by the rivers and lakes of the Perthshire countryside. You’ll be staying in either a twin or double Estate room, including the famous Gleneagles breakfast each morning and use of the extensive facilities.

Gleneagles opened in 1924 as a sporting estate and is one of the most iconic in Scotland, with 232 rooms and 3 championship golf courses. Set across 850 acres of Perthshire countryside in the shadow of Ochil Hills, Gleneagles is a glorious playground of country pursuits. There is off-road driving, fly fishing, gundog training and an equestrian and falconry school. Inside the hotel things only get better, with a décor that nods at the vibrancy of the hotel’s Roaring Twenties origins, including antique Persian patterns and herringbone wall coverings and the rooms with their freestanding tubs, heavy drapes and whimsical details.

Adding to the unique experiences at the hotel are its 11 restaurants and bars, including the The Strathearn with its Franco-Scottish cuisine, Andrew Fairlie, the only two Michelin-starred restaurant in Scotland and The Century Bar, where you can sample over 120 single malts and vintage champagnes.

Gleneagles really is the only place on earth where you’ll want to unwind and reflect on a truly tremendous day on the river.
